How PulseChain Gas Costs Are Calculated

Understanding gas costs is crucial for efficient PulseChain usage. Every transaction on PulseChain requires computational resources, and gas is the unit used to measure this resource consumption.

The Basic Formula

Transaction Cost = Gas Used × Gas Price

Gas Used: The amount of computational work required for your transaction. This is determined by the complexity of the operation (simple PLS transfer vs. complex smart contract interaction).

Gas Price: The amount you're willing to pay per unit of gas, measured in gwei (1 gwei = 0.000000001 PLS). Higher gas prices incentivize miners to include your transaction sooner.

Example Calculation

Let's calculate the cost of a simple PLS transfer:

Gas Used: units
Gas Price: gwei
PLS Price: $

Cost in PLS = × × 10⁻⁹ = PLS
Cost in USD = × $ = $

Gas Limit vs Gas Used

Gas Limit: The maximum amount of gas you're willing to spend on a transaction. If your transaction requires more gas than the limit, it will fail but you'll still pay for the gas used.

Gas Used: The actual amount of gas consumed by your transaction. You only pay for the gas actually used, and any unused gas is refunded.
